Kongsberg Maritime is to provide the design and an integrated equipment package for a new offshore service vessel (OSV) to be built for an unnamed oil and gas company at ST Engineering Marine in Singapore. The OSV is intended to work in the hydrocarbon energy sector and will have a longer endurance of up to nine weeks compared with four weeks for a standard commissioning service operation vessel (CSOV).
The 97m-long walk-to-work vessel of the company’s UT 5520 design will have high-quality accommodation for up to 106 persons and a motion-compensated gangway enabling the safe transfer of personnel to and from offshore facilities. The design, Kongsberg said, will build on recent experience with the company’s UT5519DE CSOV design which has been adopted by ship operators working in the North Sea.
Kongsberg Maritime Sales director, Per Kristian Furø commented: “We are delighted to have been chosen by ST Engineering Marine to supply our latest UT5520 vessel design and an extensive range of Kongsberg Maritime technology for this new vessel. Our design teams have drawn on our extensive knowhow from decades of offshore operations, to provide a vessel that is optimised for long-distance offshore operations, where efficiency, operational reliability, safety and crew comfort are key considerations.”
