Kongsberg launches underwater security sonar

Kongsberg has chosen this week’s ONS 2026 offshore event in Stavanger to unveil the new Aegir SSA (Subsea Situational Awareness) system based on a network of sonars designed to improve maritime security, safety and navigation by continuous underwater monitoring.
Maritime infrastructure has recently become increasingly important in energy security, transport, offshore operations, and international communications. Operators require underwater security and resilience more than ever before.
The company claims that Aegir SSA meets the growing need for situational awareness around ports, offshore assets, critical infrastructure, and offshore assets. The system combines high-performance acoustic technology with compact form factors, simplified integration, and scalable deployment options ranging from small uncrewed surface vessels (USVs) and buoys, to fixed installations and larger maritime platforms.
