Keel-laying for advanced pipe-layer

The keel-laying of the pipe-laying vessel

IHC Merwede’s contract with Subsea 7 includes the design, engineering and construction of an advanced pipe-laying vessel, which will have an overall length of 146m, a beam of 30m and a DP2 dynamic positioning system.
Upon its delivery, which is scheduled for the first half of 2014, the vessel will be used to develop deep-sea oilfields off the coast of Brazil on behalf of Petrobras.

The keel-laying ceremony for the 550-tonne pipe-laying vessel for UK-based Subsea 7 recently took place at IHC Merwede’s yard in Krimpen aan den Ijssel, the Netherlands.
