International certificate for an 3MW offshore wind turbine

The certificate was handed over at an award ceremony

Korean engineering company Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction announced it had become the first company in Korea to acquire a type certificate for its new 3MW offshore wind turbine from DEWI-OCC Offshore and Certification Centre GmbH in Germany.

With the acquisition of the type certificate, Doosan expects its efforts to expand the introduction of domestically produced offshore wind power systems in Korea - and their development as export products, which the government is pushing for - will gather significant momentum, and has decided to aggressively step up its campaign to industrialize its wind power business. The company also plans to co-develop core parts, including blades, with local small and medium-sized enterprises, and thus contribute to co-growth in the related industry.
