The conversion of the 125,541m3 LNG carrier, LNGT Power Anatolia, ex Northwest Seaeagle, into a floating storage unit (FSU) has been completed at Sembcorp Marine’s Admiralty Yard in Singapore. The project was overseen by Singapore-based ship manager, Synergy Group.

The 1992-built vessel is now owned by a joint venture between Hong Kong-listed VPower Group and China National Technical Import & Export Corporation and has been renamed CNTIC VPower Energy.

It is  managed by Synergy Group personnel and is to be deployed in Myanmar. The FSU will be used to receive and store LNG, providing delivery on demand to an onshore regasification plant. This will provide power for local consumers.

Synergy Group CEO and founder, Captain Rajesh Unni, said the successful project demonstrated that the company’s expertise extends beyond asset managing and ship operating. Despite Covid-19 restrictions and complex logistics, Synergy had demonstrated that it was now an established single-source technical system provider of LNG-to-power services, he said.

Commenting that Synergy is currently overseeing more than 30 ships under construction, Unni said: “This successful conversion shows once again that we are fully equipped to take on the most complex conversions.”
