First Japanese-built jack-up commissioned

The CP-8001 is to be deployed in Japanese waters

The rig, built for Penta-Ocean, one of Japan’s largest civil construction companies by Japan Marine United, is the first and largest jack-up rig to be built for such projects. It is a GJ-3750C GustoMSC design.
The rig will be capable of installing marine structures such as wind turbines of up to 10 MW in water depths of up to 30m. There is sufficient accommodation for 120 persons on board and the rig is the largest DP unit built under ClassNK rules.
Jan-Mark Meeuwisse, GustoMSC commercial director, commented: “The CP-8001’s unique features allow highly efficient operations in Japanese ocean side areas with harsh wave and weather conditions, while not giving in on the welfare of the crew. The proven technology makes it most suitable for various installation works from a safe and stable self-elevating platform.”

The first DP2 jack-up construction rig, named CP-8001 and intended for offshore wind and civil construction projects, has completed sea trials and jacking tests and is ready for its first deployment.
