ESNA introduces new support vessel design

The Tern SES CTV uses the air cushion for active motion damping (Sketch: ESNA)

Called the Tern SES CTV, it has a maximum service speed of above 40 knots in calm sea and can have a draught of less than 1m and can transfer personnel safely in sea states above 2m significant wave height. Wind farms with medium distance from land of between 25 and 50 nautical miles benefit greatly from the high vessel speed, said ESNA.

Norwegian marine architect ESNA has developed a new type of wind farm support vessel which uses an air cushion for active motion damping during transit and to increase operational wave height in access operations at wind farms.
