British offshore contractor Sentinel Marine has ordered three emergency response and rescue vessels from an unnamed yard in China. The three vessels - Cromarty Sentinel, Trafalgar Sentinel and Viking Sentinel – are scheduled to join the firm’s fleet by the end of 2020. They will be operated in the North Sea primarily protecting the offshore workforce, but also supplying of cargo, oil recovery, rescue towing and firefighting. They will have increased dynamic positioning capabilities with a DP2 classification, firefighting class 1, and liquid mud and dry bulk capacities.

Sentinel Marine CEO Rory Deans said: “These latest vessels, when delivered, will bring the total number of ships in our fleet to 14…We look forward to seeing the three new additions take shape in the months ahead and eventually welcoming them to Aberdeen where they will take up operations in the North Sea.”
