Eidesvik wins five-year contract in renewables

Subsea Viking will be deployed at various Van Oord projects

Norway’s Eidesvik Offshore has been awarded a five-year contract for its 103m-long offshore support vessel, Subsea Viking, by Rotterdam-based Van Oord Offshore Wind BV. The 1999-built vessel will start the contract in the first quarter of 2023.

The deal contains options for extensions after the fixed term, together with a call option on certain specified terms, Eidesvik said. The Subsea Viking will be deployed on various Van Oord projects, according to the Dutch company’s managing director, Offshore Wind, Arnoud Kuis. It will also provide trenching support and operate as the main platform for Van Oord’s trencher, Dig-It.

Gitte Gard Talmo, Eidesvik CEO and president, said: “We are very pleased with this contract award by Van Oord, a leading international player in the offshore wind market. It is a great fit with our strategy, as it will expand Eidesvik’s presence in the renewables market. We look forward to building a strong and long-standing relationship with this important new client.”
