Damen Shipyards Sharjah (DSS) in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), a joint venture between the Netherlands' Damen Shipyards Group and Dubai-based Albwardy Marine Engineering (AME), says it has won a contract to build a shallow-draught, self-propelled jack-up pontoon 3526 for the UAE contractor Aqua Diving Services Ltd (ADS).

It will be used primarily to provide offshore support services, including accommodation facilities for personnel, and to operate as a work platform with crane facilities.
ADS has designed the jack-up specifically for Middle East operations and is closely cooperating with DSS on construction of the unit. To be named Aqua Rise III, the jack-up will accommodate up to 128 personnel, have 350m² of deck space and two cranes, one rated at 75 tonnes and the other at 15 tonnes. It will also be fitted with a helideck and lifeboats. Aqua Rise III is to be delivered in early 2018 and work in the Gulf.
