Bourbon to install floating wind turbines off Portuguese coast
Bourbon will manage the project, including engineering and procurement of the mooring system, to be supplied by Schiedam-based offshore mooring specialist Vryhof.
The first phase of the project will involve laying three sets of three mooring lines. In a second phase, the wind turbines will be towed to the site and hooked up, together with installation and hook-up of the inter-array electrical cables. Bourbon will provide a range of marine assets for the project, including anchor handling tug supply vessels, other tugs and remotely operated underwater vehicles.
Bourbon Subsea Services already has experience in mooring offshore wind turbines, having won the contract to install the first French floating wind turbines in the FLOATGEN project last year. Now the company will work closely with WindPlus, Vryhof and Principle Power which has designed the floating foundations for the installa
