Alewijnse wins helicopter contract

The 87.5m-long Apollo is intended for wind turbine and foundation installation, decommissioning and the transport of heavy cargoes

The work is to be undertaken during the first quarter of the year and follows Alewijnse’s earlier involvement in electrical system integration prior to the jack-up’s delivery.
Alewijnse will provide an upgrade of existing helicopter deck installations and a new monitoring system. The company will also supply a bridge-controlled fire-fighting system. Prior to the unit’s delivery, Alewijnse designed and engineered a vessel management system including a draft and loading set-up, a tank sounding system, a power management arrangement and a riser and cooling water system.

Netherlands-based Alewijnse Marine has won a contract from DEME’s offshore engineering division, GeoSea, for the electrical integration of a helicopter deck on board the Apollo, a DP2 heavy-lift jack-up unit delivered in August.
