Fincantieri to deliver new cruise vessel for Regent in 2023

Italian yard Fincantieri said it has signed a contract with U.S. group Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings for construction of one 54,000gt ultra-luxury cruise ship for the Regent Seven Seas Cruises.

It will be delivered in 2023. The order is worth about 474 million euro. Norwegian cruise has obtained export credit financing with what it called favourable terms to fund 80% of the contract price of the ship, subject to certain Italian government approvals. Fincantieri had earlier in January signed separate contracts worth over 1 billion euros with Norwegian Cruise Line for two 67,000gt ships for the Oceania Cruises brand (New Ships 2/2019). The new Regent Seven Seas vessel will be a sister ship to the liner Seven Seas Explorer which was delivered 2016 and to the Seven Seas Splendor, which is due to delivery in 2020. The 54,000gt vessel now ordered will carry 750 passengers will be the brand’s sixth-all-suite vessel. As her sister ships, the new vessel will be built using the very latest environmental protection technologies. The interiors will be particularly sophisticated, with high attention paid to passenger comfort, Fincantieri said.
