Bollinger shipyards taken over from Edison Chouest Offshore
Mr Ben Bordelon, a grandson of the company’s founder, Mr Donald G. Bollinger, and the family that owns U.S. offshore group Edison Chouest Offshore have bought all of Bollinger’s assets and shares. The terms and value of the sale were not disclosed. Bordelon now becomes the chairman, president and chief executive officer of Bollinger Shipyards. Bordelon takes over from his uncle Mr Donald Bollinger, until now chairman and chief executive officer, and Bollinger’s son, Mr Chris Bollinger, until now president and board member. Bollinger builds offshore vessels, rigs, push boats, barges and military patrol boats. It also runs 30 dry docks. Edison Chouest, founded in 1960 as Edison Chouest Boat Rental in Galliano, is a dominant offshore vessel services firm for deepwater oil and natural gas rigs in the U.S. Gulf with international operations and about 10,000 employees. Bollinger Shipyards is the largest vessel repair yard in the Gulf of Mexico, with its ten shipyards stretching from New Orleans to Houston, and is a major builder of patrol vessels for the U.S. Coast Guard. Bollinger Shipyards employs about 3,000 workers.
