Schiedam based Hatenboer-Water BV has received an order to supply a GloEn-Patrol™ Ballast Water Treatment System for the Joint Logistics Support Ship (JSS) currently being built at Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding, Vlissingen.

In addition to the ballast water treatment, Hatenboer-Water is also taking responsibility for this logistical support ship’s drinking water supply; the complete drinking water production, the distribution and the after-treatment to ensure the quality of the water.

The ballast water capacity of the installation for the JSS is 1,400m³ per hour. Two identical 700 m3/hr installations in parallel, one on the port side and one on the starboard side, are to be installed. The systems can function completely independently from one another, guaranteeing a backup capability, but they can also be linked.

The 204.7 m long and 30.4 m wide JSS is scheduled to take up service in 2014. The tasks will include replenishment at sea, sea transport and sea basing. The vessel is designed to accomodate 175 crew persons. Installations include facilities for replenishment, storage, transport, loading and unloading and provisions for medical, technical and logistical support.
