Tractebel ramps up offshore wind capability with Overdick acquisition

Germany’s Overdick has been involved in several offshore wind projects in the North Sea

The Hamburg company has been involved in a range of North Sea wind projects and has specific expertise in the design, construction, transport and installation of wind turbines and offshore high voltage substation foundations.
Amongst other notable projects, Overdick worked on the design of the DEME-owned DP2 heavy lift jack-up vessel Innovation, the execution of the overall design of most of the high voltage direct current (HVDC) platforms in the German North Sea and the design of self-installing mobile offshore application barges for offshore wind farms and oil and gas production facilities. The company was also involved in the Costa Concordia wreck removal project in Italy.
Olivier Biancarelli, Tractebel CEO, commented: “With the acquisition of Overdick as a strong and experienced company in detailed engineering, Tractebel will participate in the growing offshore wind market which will reach an installed capacity of more than 100 GW in 2030.”
Tractebel is a subsidiary of Paris-based power and generation company Engie.

Through its subsidiary Lahmeyer International GmbH, Belgian engineering consultancy Tractebel has strengthened its offshore wind capability with the acquisition of Overdick, a Hamburg offshore engineering specialist.
