Royal IHC reinforces ship repair capability
Royal IHC has acquired a 50% stake in Rotterdam Offshore Group (ROG), a ship repair and conversion company
The deal will mean a strengthening and expansion of Royal IHC’s repair and conversion capacity, with a dedicated Rotterdam facility and direct access to open sea.
The combination of the two companies’ strengths will enable greater penetration into the market for complex upgrades, conversions, demobilisations and repairs, and will allow ROG to offer its repair and maintenance customers access to the engineering, fabrication and mission equipment capabilities of Royal IHC.
Diederik van Rijn, executive director of IHC Services, commented: "This acquisition strengthens our capabilities to serve those based in Europe. We currently see opportunities to better facilitate conversions of existing vessels and equipment that are currently laying idle due to the ongoing crisis in the market. In addition, we can offer our customers an attractive proposition as a repair and maintenance, and (de)mobilisation partner in the Rotterdam region."
ROG managing director, Martin van Leest, added: "The partnership will enable us to take on more complex jobs and be a partner for Royal IHC in delivering integrated turnkey solutions with all capabilities in-house. Our drive and flexible organisation during the execution of projects will most certainly be acknowledged by our customers."
