Rolls-Royce Power Systems to restructure brands

A closer relationship between the German engine maker, MTU, a Rolls-Royce Power Systems subsidiary and the Rolls-Royce name is the principal aim of a recently announced rebranding exercise. The move follows the sale of Rolls-Royce Commercial Marine to Norway’s Kongsberg, a transaction that was completed at the beginning of April and of which MTU was not a part.
Rolls-Royce Power Systems CEO, Andreas Schell, explained: “The new brand architecture will provide clarity and improve the recognition of our company and its products. Our new profile is a clear commitment to Rolls-Royce, as its second largest business unit. By the same token, Rolls-Royce is committed to our MTU brand, which is something we are proud of.”
The rebranding will start with the renaming of four operating companies. MTU Friedrichshafen GmbH will become Rolls-Royce Solutions GmbH later this year. This will be followed by MTU America Inc which will operate as Rolls-Royce Solutions America Inc. MTU Onsite Energy GmbH in Augsburg will take the name Rolls-Royce Solutions Augsburg GmbH and MTU Onsite Energy Systems GmbH in Ruhstorf will trade as Rolls-Royce Solutions Ruhstorf GmbH. Products made by Bergen Engines in Norway, a Rolls-Royce Power Systems subsidiary, will also be included in the new brand architecture.
