Finland’s Norsepower Oy Ltd, a wind energy system provider for commercial ships, has signed an exclusive partnership with Newport Maritime Services (NMS), an online quotation and ship repair booking company with an international network of 14 shipyards.

The agreement ensures that shipowners and operators will be able to access Norsepower’s Rotor Sail technology as they use the NMS online booking platform.

Ege Akcasoy, NMS managing director, commented: “We are delighted to establish an exclusive partnership with Norsepower. NMS encourages all customers to consider this exciting solution within out broad set of turnkey services to lead decarbonisation efforts in the industry through higher efficiency and improved cost management.”

Norsepower CEO, Tuomas Riski, said: “Retrofitting vessels with clean technologies such as wind propulsion is becoming an increasingly attractive option to decarbonise operations in light of the incoming EEXI and CII ratings schemes, as well as to demonstrate alignment with ESG principles.”
