New specialist survey company set up in Hamburg

Nicola Offshore GmbH, a new specialist survey company, has opened for business from headquarters in Hamburg. The company is a joint venture between Nicola Engineering GmbH, a marine survey firm, and Netherlands-based workboat manufacturer, ProMarine BV. Nicola Offshore will undertake complex marine surveys, including underwater object detection, unexploded ordinance, subsea cable inspections, and before-and-after dredging reports, the partners said.

Based on experience in offshore energy surveys, the company will use an advanced marine data acquisition platform on ProMarine fast workboats fitted with the integrated Hydrographic Survey System from marine data acquisition company, Subsea Europe Services GmbH.

Nicola Engineering CEO, Andres Nicola, commented: “We have noticed a significant upturn in requests for unplanned multibeam echo sounder-based surveys especially around offshore wind farms, and are confident that establishing a team to specialise in producing high quality data in these challenging conditions is the most effective way to meet the specialised needs.”
