A new service hub in Hamburg has been opened by Damen Shipyards Group. Intended to service clients in Germany, Denmark and Poland, the new setup takes the number to 15 locations around the world, including Africa, the Americas, Asia, Middle East, and Australia.

The hubs are designed to provide a local service both for clients owning Damen vessels as well as others seeking advice and support. Services include warranty advice and management, training, and service support.

The Hamburg office, staffed by local personnel with experience of shipbuilding and maintenance in the region, is headed by Service Hub Manager, Carsten Wiese.

“By being geopraphically closer to our customers,” he explained, “we are well-positioned to engage with owners throughout the lifecycle of their vessels. This enables us to offer targeted and relevant solutions to help minimise long-term operational costs, particuarly when vessel connectivity facilitates knowledge-powered operation, and also maintenance support solutions.”

Damen’s hub network is interconnected and group resources are available in every location, the company said. If a vessel moves from one region to another, therefore, group offices can ensure continuity of care.
