He succeeds Ulf Bertheau, who had led the German shipbuilder since its takeover by Norwegian-controlled Siem Industries Inc in September 2014. Bertheau will continue to be a member of FSG's advisory board.
Before coming to FSG in February 2016, Gregg- Smith worked for the Siem Group of companies as technical vice president in the car carrier and reefer divisions.
Eystein Eriksrud, chairman of the board of FSG, thanked Bertheau for his commitment during the difficult phase of restructuring the shipyard. He said Gregg-Smith would further stabilise the yard, which recently received orders for four RoRo vessels by the Siem Group.
