Nakilat and Excelerate Energy set up joint venture

At the signing ceremony of the agreement

Since the FSRU was commissioned in 2015, it has received 10.4 million tonnes of liquid natural gas (LNG), of which 7.8 million tonnes has been shipped from Qatar. The FSRU has a capacity of 150,000m3 and a peak regasification rate of 745 million cubic feet per day.
Qatar’s Minister of Energy and Industry and Nakilat chairman Dr Mohammed Bin Saleh Al Sada said: This acquisition is pivotal to the State of Qatar, as this is the first FSRU co-owned by a Qatari company which paves the way for Qatari liquefied natural gas to expand its outreach to developing and emerging markets.”
Eng. Abdullah Al Sulaiti, Nakilat CEO, commented: “Excelerate Energy is a well-recognised global leader in floating LNG regasification solutions, and this agreement marks the beginning of our penetration into the FSRU market. This opens up a new business avenue for Nakilat to sustain its long-term growth and development strategies, which in turn will further maximise value and returns for our shareholders.”

Qatar’s Nakilat and Excelerate Energy of the United States have signed an agreement to establish a joint venture and acquire a 55% interest in a floating storage regasification unit (FSRU) currently located at Port Qasim in Pakistan.
