Maritime research connects with practical application

At SMM 2026, the German Society for Maritime Technology (Schiffbautechnische Gesellschaft, STG) will be present at the stand of the German Shipbuilding and Ocean Industries Association (VSM) in Hall B4 / Stand 207,209. STG is a network and knowledge platform for maritime technology, promoting the dissemination and exchange of research and development results with a focus on their practical application.
Beyond SMM, the STG has a busy autumn programme. On September 8th, a meeting of the Naval Architecture and Production Technology Committee will address productivity gains through automation in shipbuilding. A further meeting on September 24th will focus on resilient energy systems and automation. On October 23rd, the Education and Training Committee will host a “Students meet Industry” event at HAW Kiel.
The STG’s 121st Annual General Meeting will take place from November 18th to 20th at Hotel Hafen Hamburg. Looking further ahead, the International Conference on Ship Efficiency is scheduled for September 28th and 29th 2027 at the Maritime Museum Hamburg.
