Management shuffle at Damen

Damen Shipyards Group has a new management structure, effective from the beginning of the year. Arnout Damen has succeeded René Berkvens who has been CEO for more than 13 years. At the same time, the shipbuilding company is implementing a divisional structure which, it said, would enable it to serve the market more effectively and efficiently. Jan-Wim Dekker has taken over Arnout Damen’s position as Chief Commercial Officer.

Preparations for implementing the divisional structure have been in progress for some months but now this has become the new CEO’s first priority. The new structure has also been in place since the start of the month.

“Damen is known as an innovative and dynamic company that works very closely with its clients,” Arnout Damen explained. “We would like to maintain this. With the growth of recent years, the switch to a divisional structure has become logical to remain close to the various markets and to further expand our leading position in the fields of quality, digitalisation and sustainability.”
