Damen to buy Keppel Verolme yard in Rotterdam

The Verolme facility has three graving docks including one of the largest in Europe with dimensions 405m x 90m, enabling the Netherlands-based shipyard and repair group to undertake repairs and upgrades of semi-submersibles and jack-up rigs. The Botlek facility also has 1.8kms of quay and a workforce of 250 personnel which Damen intends to retain.
The acquisition will mean that the shipyard group controls four large repair yards in the vicinity of Rotterdam. The two Rotterdam yards, Verolme Botlek and Damen Shiprepair Rotterdam, will work closely with other facilities in Vlissingen and Amsterdam, making the most of each other’s expertise and jointly marketing capacity. This, it is hoped, will enable the group to offer more efficient and competitive services.
