Cadmatic widens portfolio with CAD acquisition

Turku-based 3D-based design and engineering software specialist Cadmatic has widened its marine portfolio with the acquisition of Kymdata Ltd, a computer-aided design (CAD) software specialist. Kymdata’s CADS Electric software is widely used in electrical automation design in Finland and Estonia and includes software modules for HVAC calculation and modelling as well as structural design. Kymdata’s products and know-how complement Cadmatic’s existing portfolio of structural and mechanical design and information management for ships and process plants in the global market, the companies said.
Cadmatic software is widely used on ships, luxury yachts, cruise vessels and offshore platforms, as well as onshore industrial applications. Cadmatic CEO, Jukka Rantala, commented that the acquisition is in line with the company’s growth strategy. “It expands our product portfolio and position in our core business area,” he said, “while providing us with excellent opportunities for future growth.”
