On-vessel mooring system to be delivered to ENI Norge

Aker Solutions has won a contract with Eni Norge for the design and supply of an on-vessel Pusnes mooring systemTM for the Goliat FPSO. The contract party for Aker Solutions is Aker Pusnes AS.

The contract consists of 14 Pusnes fairlead chain stoppersTM and three moveable Pusnes windlassesTM for 165 mm chain size. The hull for the round-shaped production unit (FPSO) will be built in South-Korea. After completion, the FPSO will be located at the Goliat field in the Barents Sea.

Aker Solutions has developed the fairlead chain stopper design, which is an innovative on-vessel mooring solution with several advantages. The fairlead chain stopper constrains the mooring load to a limited area on the hull. Its long, pivoting stopper arm reduces chain wear and increases the fatigue life of the chain. The design eliminates the need for reinforcements at the deck level thereby decreasing the overall weight.

The equipment will be manufactured in Norway, Poland and South Korea and the delivery is scheduled to take place during 2011.
