Netherlands-based towage operator, Kotug, has won a long-term contract to provide towage support and services for Perenco Oil & Gas Gabon SA (Perenco) in its operations in and around Port Gentil.

Kotug will deploy three vessels on the project, including two of its first-ever Rotor Tugs – RT Magic and RT Spirit. A third vessel, the stern-drive SD Honour, will be replaced by another Rotor Tug in due course.

Ard-Jan Kooren, Kotug president and CEO, commented: “We are happy to be awarded this contract and look forward to supporting Perenco with our proven in-house developed Rotor Tug technology and our extensive experience in the oil and gas industry.”

The towage company has established a subsidiary company in the central African country Gabon and will provide opportunities and work experience for local people. Operations are expected to begin in the second half of this month.
