Abu Dhabi Ports has acquired MICCO Logistics, marking a further step in the port’s strategy of strengthening its international and regional distribution network. MICCO is being integrated into Abu Dhabi Ports Logistics, making the division the emirate’s first provider of end-to-end logistics solutions, the port company said.

MICCO was one of Abu Dhabi’s first freight forwarders when it was established more than 40 years ago and has since built up a strong presence in consolidated freight services for the emirate’s oil and gas sector. It has a modern ground fleet consisting of more than 350 prime movers, a diversified fleet of trailers, and specialised storage facilities. It also provides road feeder services for the aviation sector.

“The acquisition of MICCO is a critical step in our emirate’s journey to establish itself as a leading hub within the global trade and supply chains,” said Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, Abu Dhabi Ports Group CEO. “The combined advantage of both organisations means that Abu Dhabi Ports will be able to compete on the regional and global stage as a provider of holistic logistics solutions, enhancing what we offer to both existing and prospective customers, while at the same time furthering our contribution to Abu Dhabi’s non-oil GDP and the government’s diversification efforts.”
