UK-based wind sail developer, Bar Technologies, and Spanish firm, WindWaves, a manufacturer of offshore wind platforms, are to work together in the promotion and production of BAR’s new 20-24 WindWings® sails. The two companies have already been collaborating in a similar deal on BAR’s larger 37.5m-high WingWings since February.

Hamburg-based MPC Capital, an investment and asset manager specialising in maritime and energy infrastructure, has launched a new investment vehicle targeting offshore wind and service vessels. Its first project involves the construction of six emission-free offshore survey and service vessels (OSSV) which, the company said, aligns with its focus on maritime and energy infrastructure.

Netherlands-based startup firm, SeaO₂, specialising in carbon removal technology from seawater, has announced EUR 2 million in new funding. Utilising its Direct Ocean Capture (DOC) technology, which extracts CO₂ from seawater, SeaO₂ aims to mitigate climate change by returning carbon-free water to the ocean, enhancing its ability to absorb CO₂ from the atmosphere. Investors include DOEN Participaties, New-TTT fund, Future Tech Ventures, CarbonFix, and angel investors Eduard Talman and Siddharth Kambe.

Terneuzen-based Multraship Towage & Salvage has named the most recent addition to its tug fleet. The 32m-long Multratug 36, a Damen ASD 3212 design with a bollard pull of 89.5 tonnes, will be deployed in deep-sea and coastal towage, as well as salvage and other operations.

The world’s first five-in-one, foldable ISO-certified shipping container, SeaFold HC 40', has been launched by Florida-based Compact Container Systems (CCS). The company claims that more than a fifth of all containers return empty to their port of origin. However, using the new Seafold HC 40' will slash repositioning costs by 56%, storage space by 80%, and carbon emissions by up to 70%, according to CCS analysis.
