UK ship repairer A&P Group is to focus its operations on its Tyneside yard, at Hebburn, and in Falmouth, southwest UK, after taking the decision to close its Teesside yard in Middlesbrough, which it has operated for 20 years. The workforce at this yard will be transferred to A&P Tyne.

The Teesside yard covers five acres and offers two graving docks – one measuring 175.3m x 23.4m and the other 120m x 17.3m, with 240m of repair quays.

The owners of the facility, PD Ports, says that it is currently in discussion with a number of potential new companies to take over the shipyard, which is the former Smith’s Dock facility, now located in the Teesport Commercial Park site.
