The Scenic Group has announced that it is to carry out a major enhancement to its two Discovery Yachts, Scenic Eclipse and Scenic Eclipse II, while at the same time announcing that it is to undertake a design upgrade to 18 river cruise vessels operated by Scenic and Emerald Cruises.

The Polar Class 6 ultra-luxury yacht cruise vessel Scenic Eclipse drydocked at the Cadiz yard of Spain’s leading cruise vessel repairer, Navantia, on April 7th, after arriving from Mindelo in the Cape Verde islands.

The 17,545gt 2019-built vessel will undergo the fitting of several innovations that debuted on the vessel’s 2023-built sister ship Scenic Eclipse II, including the Senses Spa as well as updates to a number of dining venues. Meanwhile, Scenic Eclipse II will be fitted with a custom-designed Scenic Neptune II submersible and four Seabobs, allowing passengers to explore the ocean depths and coral reefs.

“Our collaboration with Trident Submarines on the custom design of our new submarine reflects our commitment to continuous innovation and leading the way in ultra-luxury yacht cruises,” said Jason Flescher, director of discovery operations for the Scenic Group.

Meanwhile, also in drydock at the Cadiz shipyard on April 11th was Carnival Cruise Line’s 110,239gt 2003-built Carnival Glory, which arrived at the yard on April 3rd from New Orleans.
