The Spanish ship repair yard of Astilleros del Guadalquivir, located in the centre of the city of Seville, drydocked Baleària’s RoPax ferry Passio per Formentera on March 31st for her scheduled refit. The ferry’s refit is costing a total of EUR 3.2 million and is scheduled at the end of April.

The work scope on the 2009-built 8,146gt ferry includes upgrades to a Bergen Diesel propulsion system and upgrades to the vessel’s interiors.

The majority of the refit costs of Passio per Formentera, EUR 2.7 million, is being accounted for by the main engine work and the application of a new underwater hull antifouling system work which is expected to reduce 10% of the ship’s emissions.

The Passio per Formentera can carry 880 passengers and 100 vehicles and operates Baleària’s lifeline service between Algeciras and the Spanish North African enclave of Ceuta.

Meanwhile, undergoing repair at this yard on March 29th was the 1,368gt 1999-built anchor-handling tug Guard Supplier, owned by Norway’s Tananger Offshore, Stavanger.
