Heavy-lift companies join forces

By joining forces Jumbo and BBCwill intensify their project and heavy-lift capacities

The two companies have established the Global Project Alliance, with immediate effect, to bring together their fleets in a move to draw on the joint capabilities of both companies and provide a “best for project” service by optimising volume and super heavy-lift project cargoes.
Twan Voogt, Jumbo’s CCO, said: “Both of our companies are family-owned, financially strong, and follow a long-term strategy in the project shipping sector. As alliance partners, we seek to fully utilise our potential arising from BBC Chartering’s market position as leader in the volume market for projects and from Jumbo’s market position as leader in super heavy-lift projects.”
Noting that the project cargo sector is currently undergoing a spell of significant change, Svend Andersen, CEO of BBC Chartering, added: “Jumbo and BBC Chartering make a great match, which one can truly call ‘the biggest and the best’. We look forward to forge this alliance and intensify our collaboration on commercial, operational and strategic levels. Our organisations need to focus on building strategic assets that will enable them to create value in the future.”

Two leading heavy-lift specialists, Jumbo and BBC Chartering, have agreed to combine their respective operations to provide engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) companies with a more comprehensive range of services.
