The world’s first five-in-one, foldable ISO-certified shipping container, SeaFold HC 40', has been launched by Florida-based Compact Container Systems (CCS). The company claims that more than a fifth of all containers return empty to their port of origin. However, using the new Seafold HC 40' will slash repositioning costs by 56%, storage space by 80%, and carbon emissions by up to 70%, according to CCS analysis.

The European Union-sponsored TwinShip project will involve more than a dozen technology and service providers, including shipping companies, classification societies, ports, software developers, and technology providers such as Wärtsilä Corporation. The aim is to improve access to reliable data thereby enabling smarter decisions on decarbonisation initiatives.

Kiel-based navigation specialist, Anschütz, has launched an upgraded version of its Synapsis NX software for Integrated Navigation System (INS), Radar NX, and ECDIS NX applications. The new software will be presented at SMM next month.
