TK Tuzla Shipyard, one of the largest repair yards in Turkey's Tuzla region, has introduced an artificial intelligence-based safety monitoring system developed by defence technology company Havelsan. The system aims to improve occupational health and safety by integrating existing CCTV infrastructure with real-time video analytics.

The new platform applies Havelsan’s image processing and AI algorithms to provide continuous analysis of activity within the yard. It is designed to detect and alert personnel to a range of risks, including unauthorised access to restricted areas, failure to wear personal protective equipment, and fire or smoke incidents. It also includes capabilities for detecting sea approach events and accidental falls into the water – both recognised hazards in shipyard operations.

The system automatically generates alarms when safety violations or dangerous situations are identified, allowing for faster response and preventative action. According to Havelsan, the deployment reflects growing interest in applying AI to improve workplace safety in heavy industry environments.

TK Tuzla is one of the busiest yards in the Turkish repair market, handling commercial and naval work. Yard management expects the new monitoring system to enhance risk management and support continuous operations while aligning with national goals for digital transformation in industrial facilities.
