Seatrium Offshore Technology (SOT), a subsidiary of Singapore-based Seatrium Limited, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) to expand collaboration in offshore projects across India and Asia.

The agreement will see the two companies pool their respective strengths: SOT’s engineering and offshore solutions with CSL’s infrastructure, fabrication capacity and ship repair experience. The focus will be on maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) projects for operators active in Asia, with the potential to extend into other offshore markets in the region.

“India’s rapidly developing offshore energy sector and rising demand for maritime infrastructure present compelling opportunities,” said Winston Cheng, senior vice-president and head of SOT. He added that combining CSL’s local capabilities with Seatrium’s technology base would support India’s energy transition and expand Seatrium’s footprint in Asia.

Sivakumar A, general manager of Ship Repair at CSL, said the move reflected CSL’s intent to grow its offshore presence. “Our decision to strengthen collaboration with Seatrium demonstrates our confidence in their global expertise,” he noted.

The MoU follows an agreement signed in 2024 between CSL and Seatrium’s US subsidiary for the joint design and supply of jack-up rig equipment for the Indian market.
