Cruise vessel Ambition, operated by Ambassador Cruise Line, entered drydock at A&P Falmouth on November 8th for an extensive refit running until December 1st. It is the first collaboration between the line and the Cornish yard, selected after a competitive tender. Ambassador’s COO, Nick Hughes, said the multimillion-pound project reflected the company’s focus on “affordable quality” and high technical and environmental standards, adding that choosing a UK yard supported local industry.

Falmouth was chosen partly for its shorter deviation from Liverpool, allowing additional time in dock and reduced fuel use. Skilled engineers, technicians and refurbishment teams are carrying out a wide-ranging package of work, including mechanical overhauls, essential steel repairs, a full hull repaint, and servicing of stabiliser and propulsion equipment.

Hotel areas, restaurants, cabins and entertainment spaces are receiving refreshed soft furnishings and finishes, while crew accommodation is also being upgraded. A spa treatment room is being converted into a fully equipped kidney dialysis centre to support guests requiring hemodialysis at sea.

A&P Falmouth’s managing director, Mike Spicer, said the yard was pleased to welcome the vessel for refit, noting its regular calls at the port’s cruise terminal. Once dockings are completed, Ambition will resume service on December 2 with a three-night Christmas Markets cruise. The line’s Ambience follows with a three-week drydocking at A&P Tyne from January 7, 2026.
