Gibdock signs air lubrication MoU

Gibdock has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Armada Technologies to retrofit its passive air lubrication system (PALS). Designed to reduce hull friction and improve the emissions profile of vessels, Armada Technology’s PALS skips the use of air compressors in favour of small boost pumps to generate the bubble lubrication, allowing it to use less energy and provide higher fuel savings.

Wärtsilä tinkering reduces methane slip in 25DF engines

Wärtsilä has introduced a methane-slip-reducing upgrade for its 25DF dual-fuel engines. The NextDF system reduces unburnt methane to less than 2% across all load ranges, and as low as 1.1% under ideal load parameters, down from 1.4%. The measure also includes a reduction of NOx emissions.
