Norwegian OSV operators sign up for energy efficiency software

North Sea Shipping, Olympic Subsea and Siem Offshore will join OSV owner Solstad, which has already installed the cloud-based software.
Maress combines existing data streams from vessels with AIS and other sources of data to present energy efficiency information on board a single ship, or across an entire fleet. The software creates a baseline for each vessel, based on historical information and different operating modes. The daily performance of each vessel can then be benchmarked and adjusted, if necessary, to reflect any operational variations. Then inefficiencies and sub-optimal operations can be identified and adjusted.
Yxney’s chief commercial officer, Sindre Bornstein, explained: “Maress allows shipowners to work closely with clients to reduce fuel and emissions. The full energy efficiency potential becomes visible when Maress is used to monitor fleet performance. The ability to visualise efforts with hard data is a motivational factor for everyone involved – crews, onshore personnel, and not least clients.
Yxney now has installations on board more than 150 offshore vessels including platform supply ships, anchor handling tug supply units and construction support ships. Notable vessels within the fleets of Yxney’s new clients are the subsea construction vessel North Sea Giant, the high-end multipurpose offshore vessel Olympic Challenger, and the platform supply vessel, Siem Pride, currently on long-term charter to Shell.
