MAN Energy wins Finnish regasification terminal contract

MAN will deliver an LNG regasification terminal to Forchem

The boiler used for generating steam for the refinery process is to be converted to use natural gas / biogas.
MAN Energy will provide a tailor-made installation, designed for longevity, minimum maintenance requirements and with local conditions in mind. The terminal, which will be located adjacent to the Forchem plant, will incorporate an offloading skid for LNG trailers and a vertical 200m3 vacuum-insulated tank and vapouriser unit. It will enable the company to receive deliveries of LNG and liquefied biogas from tank trucks.
“LNG has become very attractive and competitive compared with other fuels and is low in emissions,” commented Carsten Dommermuth, senior manager International Business Development at MAN Energy Solutions. “We see a growing market for small scale LNG solutions for both captive and grid-connected applications.” The company is currently commissioning a similar power plant, equipped with dual-fuel engines, to meet future energy needs in Gibraltar.

Finland’s Forchem Oy, a chemical and animal feed producing company, has signed up MAN Energy Solutions to design and deliver a liquefied natural gas (LNG) regasification terminal for its Rauma plant.
