Industry body seeks to promote collaboration in shipping and logistics sectors

Its aim is to support collaboration and standardisation in the development of IT systems for the shipping and logistics sectors. SMC founding members include industry heavyweights such as ABB, Inmarsat, Kongsberg and Wärtsilä.
Vessel operators, such as MSC, are also represented on the SMC to provide an end user’s views on maritime technology development and ensure that shipping companies’ real requirements play a central role in future IT development.
