Work begins on second ship for Viking Ocean Cruises

It is the second vessel the Italian shipbuilder is constructing for the US-based cruise operator Viking Ocean Cruises. The first vessel, Viking Star, will be delivered in the spring of 2015, also from the Marghera shipyard. Viking Sky, the third vessel, will be built at the premises in Ancona and is scheduled for delivery in the summer of 2015.
All vessels, at 47,800gt each, will have 465 staterooms, accommodating 930 guests. Maiden voyage itineraries for Viking Ocean Cruises start in April 2015, with cruising in Scandinavia and the Baltic, and the Western and Eastern Mediterranean Sea.

The steel cutting ceremony for the cruise vessel Viking Sea was recently held at Fincantieri’s Marghera shipyard.
