The “UAL Houston” at its launch

The Netherlands-based Bodewes Shipyards BV, Hoogezand, has launched the “UAL Houston”, built for the also Dutch shipping company Universal Africa Lines (UAL), Capelle aan den Ijssel.

It is the third vessel of the Bodewes Eco Trader 8700 DWAT series. With an overall length of 127.3m and a breadth of 15.8m, the cargo ship has a deadweight of 8,700 tonnes. A Caterpillar type M32 main engine of 2,999 kW powers the newbuilding for a speed of 13.5 knots. The bow of the “UAL Houston” has been designed with a Groot Cross-Bow. Both cargo holds can be equipped with a complete tweendeck. The accommodation of Nb762 is a new design of Bodewes Shipyards. It has resulted in more deck space in front of the accommodation, which can be used for container cargo or the storage of tweendeck panels.
