Italian shipbuilder, Vittoria Yachts, has begun construction of the Bow Sprit, the first motor yacht in the new Explorer line. The 54m-long vessel, designed by Sergio Cutolo, is close to 500gt and due for completion in 2023.
The vessel takes its name from the distinctive bow – its bowsprit extends beyond the prow. Designed in partnership with Hydro Tec, the yacht is intended for long voyages and charter business. It has two swimming pools, a "crow’s nest" with 360-degree views, up to six cabins for guests, and accommodation for eight crew members and the captain.
MTU 16V2000M61 engines will provide sufficient power for a maximum speed of 16 knots, a cruising speed of 14 knots, and a range of more than 6,000 nautical miles at an economical speed of ten knots, the yacht builder said.
