Viking Life-Saving Equipment is to build four fast response vessels for Tolletaten, the Norwegian Customs Service. The company will deliver four Viking Norsafe boats including one Marathon S-900, powered by twin 350-hp Mercury engines, and three Munin S-1400 patrol boats, each with three 500-hp Mercury engines.
The contract, designed for new vessels with speed and endurance, is worth about NOK 43 million. Boat deliveries will start in 2026 and continue into 2027. The contract includes options for more boats.
Viking’s Marathon and Munin models are both designed for effective surveillance with speed, control and reliability as key features. Advanced hull designs and powerful engines ensure rapid acceleration and precise manoeuvring in challenging sea conditions, the company said. Both designs incorporate shock-mitigation technology and have flexible deck layouts.
Viking’s sales manager, Eirik Møllergaard, said: “We would like to commend Tolletaten for a procurement process that has been both thorough and constructive, with valuable input from users and clear dialogue throughout. Succeeding on this tender is a recognition we value highly, and we look forward to delivering vessels that will support Tolletaten’s important work in Norwegian waters.”
The boats will be built at Viking’s production facilities in Arendal.
