Vard wins order for two more expedition vessels

Vard will deliver a total of six luxury expedition cruise vessels to Ponant

Vard Holdings Limited, a Norwegian subsidiary of Fincantieri, has won a contract for the design and construction of two more 10,000gt luxury expedition cruise vessels from Ponant, a French cruise company and subsidiary of Artemis Group.

The 131m-long vessels, with a cruising speed of 15 knots, will be identical to those ordered in 2016 and will have capacity for 180 passengers in 92 cabins. They are due for delivery in the first and second quarters of 2020.
The relatively small ships will be able to call at ports and destinations which are not accessible to larger vessels. They will be equipped with the latest environmentally friendly technologies and have a high standard of facilities on board.
The first of Ponant’s luxury expedition cruise vessels is due for delivery in the second quarter of this year, followed by three other deliveries between this autumn and summer 2019.  In addition, Vard will deliver the first arctic LNG cruise vessel to Ponant in 2021.
