The U.S. Coast Guard has awarded U.S. yard Bollinger a contract worth just over US$222 million to build four more Sentinel-class fast response cutters (fast patrol vessels) of 353 tonnes displacement.

This announcement brings the total number of the 46.8m-long vessels awarded to Bollinger up to 60 craft since the newbuilding programme started. The Coast Guard previously said it planned to order a total of 64 vessels which carry a crew of 24.

All four vessels will be built at Bollinger's Lockport yard and are scheduled for delivery in 2022 and 2023. Three of the four will be based in Alaska and the fourth in Boston.

Bollinger said it is also participating in initial industry studies for other U.S. Government shipbuilding programmes, including the U.S. Coast Guard's offshore patrol cutter, the U.S. Navy's common hull auxiliary multi-mission platform, the U.S. Navy's auxiliary general ocean surveillance vessel, the U.S. Navy's large unmanned surface vehicle programme and the U.S. Navy's light amphibious warship.
