Upgraded construction vessel completed

Leighton Offshore, headquartered at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, has completed the upgrade of crane barge "Mynx" in line with Leighton’s policy of operating a fleet of vessels compliant to the ISPS (International Special Purpose Shipping) code.

The scope of work for the upgrade included the installation of new accommodation facilities for 165 persons, CAP437 compliant heli deck, additional hull strengthening, new 50MT mooring winches and winch control system, and new services to suit the upgraded configuration including three new 820kW main generators and one 520kW emergency generator.

Along with the barge enhancements, "Mynx" has also received a new Manitowoc 16000 Crawler Crane (400MT capacity). This crane is designed for offshore use and is an extremely versatile unit, giving Mynx a real offshore lifting advantage over many similar vessels. The barge is now being mobilised to North-West India where she will undertake works associated with the Mangala Pipeline Project for Cairn Energy India Limited.
